Blueberry Bagels

Bagels never last in our home so it is no surprise that I have to make them often. While making a batch of my plain bagels, I decided to experiment with adding a little lemon and a blueberry puree and see how it turns out. By golly miss molly! It was amazing!!! I cannot express or explain how amazing these are! So, just give them a try and let me know what you think on facebook or here! They will knock your socks off!!

You Will Need:

1 Pint Organic Blueberries
2 tbsp Organic Lemon, juiced
1 pk Non-GMO Yeast
1 tsp Salt
5 1/2 Cups Bread Flour
2/3 Cups Water
1/4 Cup Organic Sugar, not pictured

Place water, lemon juice, and blueberries in a blender; blender until puree is smooth 


(see my notes hehe) Place all dry ingredients into a stand mixer

Add the puree and continue to mix

You may need a little more water, add 1 tbsp at a time; until the dough forms a ball. Continue mixing on setting 2 for 10 minutes 

Place in a greased bowl

Cover and rise for 40 minutes in a warm area 

Cut the dough

Weigh out 3 oz balls (this is for mini bagels)

Roll into the ball and place on a cookie sheet, rise for 20 minutes covered with a damp towel

Once done rising, place a pointer finger in the middle and spin until a big enough whole 

They will not look perfect, but honestly who cares! My kids helped so they look 'goofy' (allow these to rest until water boils)

Boil water in a pot with with 6 tbsp of organic raw honey

Add four to five bagels at a time, gently

Boil for 1 minute per side

Drain and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Cool completely before eating
