Canning Pineapple

When canning anything you need to make sure to follow the directions to a tee! You cannot defer from the safe recipe that is provided to you. I do not want to name names, but I have seen some canning YouTubers who are NOT following the safe directions given to them and go off on their own doing whatever they wish. You cannot, by any means, do that unless you speak to the company first and get the approval from them. If you have no experience with canning, then I recommend starting with with this recipe as it is super easy and does not require you to have much skill {if you are new, this is a water bath canned recipe and that makes it super easy to follow along}. Sanitize your jar according to the link here! The link provided is to ball's website for beginners. And remember, when canning do it safely, according to the safe websites above and follow directions to a tee. This recipe only allows you to can in pints, so you will need 5 pint jars. You can also go to to the National Center for Home Food Preservation and find all safe recipes and how to maintain and sanitize your jars! Good luck and be safe!

You Will Need:

5 Organic Pineapples
3 Cans Dole 100% Pineapple Juice
Mason Jars, Pints
Water Bath Canner
Canning Accessories
Paper Towel or Kitchen Towel
Ball Canning Book

Crockpot Greek Yogurt

That is correct! I am taking extremely simple crockpot yogurt recipe and transforming it into a beautiful thick greek yogurt! It seems the children and Daniel prefer the yogurt more thick whereas I love the yogurt more thin like a non-fat yogurt or Stonyfield's Vanilla Whole Milk yogurt. Yum yum yum either way. With school starting up, I figured it is time again to pop the good old crockpot out and get to making some more yogurt! {Okay let's be honest here, I make yogurt every two weeks- whenever we go to the farm to pick up our milk I make a batch of yogurt}. But anyways, with school starting this week, I figured what better way than to end the summer with greek yogurt and start the school year {lunches} off with a bang! Homemade greek yogurt always has the kids at school asking Kristopher and Kailee 'where did you get the yogurt?' And boy do they love telling them, my mom made it! Haha I love it!! Anyways, this recipe is all basically the same as my vanilla yogurt; the only thing we are changing is straining it to remove the Whey. But do not by any means discard the whey! If you like Whey protein shakes, there you go! You have fresh whey to use for that! I freeze my whey into ice cube trays and my husband takes one cube out, and pops it into his shakes in the AM using our Oster blender {this blender is the best ever! You place all your ingredients into the cup, mix, place lid on and you are good to go. No mess, no fuss, no clean up!

You Will Need:

1/2 Gallon Raw Milk
1/2 Cup Organic Sugar
1/2 Cup Organic Yogurt Starter
1-2 tbsp Organic Vanilla, depending on how you like it

**Yogurt Starter: This is basically plain or vanilla organic yogurt from any store bought. I buy my starter yogurt is maple hill creamery vanilla bean. But the easiest way to get your starter and the cheapest way is to keep 1/2 cup to 1 cup from this batch of yogurt (saving 1 cup if you wish to double the recipe). Peace of cake, eh?! Well give it a try follow along!!

Place your raw milk in your crockpot (any crockpot will do!)

Place the crockpot on low and let it cook for 2 hours and 45 minutes! DO NOT touch or move the crockpot, just leave it alone and go about your business! We let it go while cooking dinner, and watching Grey's Anatomy (<<<-----yup new obsession!!)

After 2 hours and 45 minutes, turn the crockpot off, unplug it and remove the lid. This is what it should look like if you are using raw milk like we did

Add your sugar and vanilla at this point and whisk like crazy.

Whisking away.. Now return to whatever it was you were doing; I cleaned the kitchen, and let this sit OFF, lid on for 3 hours! DO NOT ADD YOUR STARTER YET!

Here it is after 3 hours! Remove 1 cup of the milk mixture and place in a bowl

Here is my milk and yogurt starter

Add your starter to the milk, and whisk

While you are whisking you will see the yogurt start to look like yogurt! This is great! The live cultures are doing what they should and feeding off the sugar!

Add back to the crock pot

And whisk away for 2 minutes

Wrap your crockpot in a big bowl around the base, place the lid back on

Place another towel on top of the lip, draping down to cover the entire crockpot the rest of the way
Allow to sit for 8 to 12 hours; I left mine for 8 hours and 45 minutes (the longer it sits the tangier the yogurt flavor- which I do NOT like)

Place a white t-shirt or cheesecloth over a strainer on top of a pan. Pour yogurt into the middle {have someone hold the shirt still}. Place in fridge for 4 hours to drain the whey, do not throw the whey out!

Look at how thick!!!

The whey is amazing protein and very good for you!! Daniel adds some to each of his protein shakes instead of yogurt {since this has the yogurt flavor!}

Enjoy your amazing, homemade greek yogurt!! YUM!

Canning Strawberries

When canning anything you need to make sure to follow the directions to a tee! You cannot defer from the safe recipe that is provided to you. I do not want to name names, but I have seen some canning YouTubers who are NOT following the safe directions given to them and go off on their own doing whatever they wish. You cannot, by any means, do that unless you speak to the company first and get the approval from them. Click here to find the safe recipe that I am following below. If you have no experience with canning, then I recommend starting with this strawberry recipe as it is super easy and does not require much skill. Sanitize your jar according to the link here! The link provided is to ball's website for beginners. And remember, when canning do it safely, according to the safe websites above and follow directions to a tee. You can use either 7 quart jars or 9 pint jars according to the national center for home food preservation.

These canned strawberries are my favorite for smoothies, over angel food cake, plain with whipped cream on top, Kristopher and Kailee take these to school in their planetbox lunch boxes, and at home. I cannot tell you how much Kristopher and Kailee love these. The other night when I canned these, I had some left over so I place it in the fridge to cool, and served it in a ramekin for their "dessert" kind of like a TV dinner! It was amazing, they loved it!! =]] Okay, now that you get where I am coming from on safety, let's get to canning the strawberries.

You Will Need:

8 lbs Organic Strawberries, washed and steams removed
2 Cups Organic Sugar {this is for the pounds amount above only!}
Mason Jars, Quart
Mason Jars, Pints
Pressure Canner
Canning Accessories
Paper Towel or Kitchen Towel
Ball Canning Book

Here is how I served them with Goulash and some good old organic mixed vegetables. See homemade TV dinner!! =]] LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!

My Favorite School App

When I was homeschooling Kristopher and Kailee, two years ago, I realized I needed to make sure the kids had a place they could read books (since they did not really like sitting down with a book, and getting to the library was hard and far distance for us). I started doing research on apps that they could just use on their iPad's and stubbled across one of my favorite apps ever! Now, I did not exactly know or understand how to use this, at first, or fully understand what it was until I got it. The app is called Kindle Unlimited from Amazon.

Let's get into the basics of the app. First, you pay $9.99 a month for unlimited (umm...yeah its in the name!) books. At first I thought that meant I could read any book ever released and did not have a limit. Well, you are allowed to read 10 books at a time, but once you are down with one or did not like that one, you can pick another book and 'return' that other one. For example, I had checked out 10 books {2 for each kid, and rest for me.. hahaha okay I am a book nerd, so what?!} and Kristopher wanted to get a book called Smoothie Recipes for Kids, he had to decide what book from his two he had 'checked out' to return before he could get the other, once decided the book downloaded instantly! COOL! RIGHT?! Now, if you find a book you want to read and it is not on the Kindle Unlimited section for free reading, you can always open the Amazon app and find the book to buy, then it will automatically download to the kindle app and you are good to go! A lot of times I will post on my FaceBook page FREE books {so be sure you are following/liked my FaceBook page because the books do not stay free for long and you do not want to miss them}.

Secondly, there is a little A symbol on the top right of the Kindle app, once you open it, that will take you directly into the Kindle Unlimited section so you can check out your books. They will give you popular books, kids books, suggestive books based off what you have read already, and so forth. I have posted photos to help you better understand this amazing book app. I strong recommend this for anyone who has children who have iPads and love to read or just need to read more! I went from never reading to reading at least 7 books a month!! {I know, I know, book nerd!! YUP!} One of my favorite sections of the Kindle Unlimited is the Audiobooks!!! I know right!? AMAZING! You will find that your children will love having their own books on their iPads. I know mine go crazy over the books. I have Frozen, Minions, Flat Stanley, Despicable Me 1 & 2, among many other books of the iPads for them! Be sure to let me know what you think of the app and follow along on my FaceBook for free book links!

Click above for your first month free!! {and you are welcome! because you will LOVE this!}

You can see the Amazon 'a' you click to get into the Kindle Unlimited books section with over 1 million books to choose from!! AMAZING!!!! When I first signed up two years ago, it was only 700,000 books now there is over 1 million books! WOW!

Opening the app

Books to pick from

Audiobook section..

Some of my books.. a lot of these are from the free links I post on my FaceBook page, so be sure to check my FaceBook page!! As I post links often and those book links I post you get to keep the books forever! No returning them like the Kindle Unlimited Books. Cool!!

Do not judge my books selection, I love many different types and styles of books!

Panera Bread Plain Bagels

I love making bagels, yes it takes a lot of time, but in the end it is the most rewarding dish you will ever make. Not only is this a simple recipe but it does not require much experience in the kitchen. In fact, I recruited two of my most amazing helpers on this big project (since I was making blueberry bagels along side these plain one! oooeeee!!) These bagels are extremely moist, chewy and perfect! They literally remind me of Panera Bread! YUM YUM!

You Will Need:

1 Cup Warm Water
1 pk Non-GMO Yeast
1 tsp Salt
5 1/2 Cups Bread Flour
1/4 Cup Organic Sugar, not pictured

(see my notes hehe) Place all dry ingredients into a stand mixer

Add Water

You may need a little more water, add 1 tbsp at a time; until the dough forms a ball. Continue mixing on setting 2 for 10 minutes

This is how you want it to look.. elastic-y

Place in a greased bowl. Cover and rise for 40 minutes in a warm area

Roll 4.5 oz balls

Roll into the ball and place on a cookie sheet, rise for 20 minutes covered with a damp towel
Once done rising, place a pointer finger in the middle and spin until a big enough whole
They will not look perfect, but honestly who cares! My kids helped so they look 'goofy' (allow these to rest until water boils)

Boil water in a pot with with 6 tbsp of organic raw honey. Add four to five bagels at a time, gently,

Boil for 1 minute per side

Once down, allow to dry then place back on the baking sheet. Bake 425 degrees for 15-18 minutes turning half way or until golden brown.

Cool completely

Canning Pinto Beans

When canning anything you need to make sure to follow the directions to a tee! You cannot defer from the safe recipe that is provided to you. I do not want to name names, but I have seen some canning YouTubers who are NOT following the safe directions given to them and go off on their own doing whatever they wish. You cannot, by any means, do that unless you speak to the company first and get the approval from them. If you have no experience with canning, then I recommend starting with with my salsa recipe, as it is super easy and does not require you to have much skill {if you are new, this is a water bath canned recipe and that makes it super easy to follow along}. Sanitize your jar according to the link here! The link provided is to ball's website for beginners. You can also go to to the National Center for Home Food Preservation and find all safe recipes and how to maintain and sanitize your jars! Good luck and be safe!!

I love canning organic pinto beans. The number one reason I can them is because I love using them for refried beans! PERFECTION! YUM! These are so easy to make, yet so rewarding once you see them finished. When canning pinto beans you have to remember you cannot use a water bath canner, you have to use a pressure canner, that is extremely important to remember! I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow your recipes to a tee from the safe canning sites. If you do not know what they are Google ball blue book and you will see the canning books that are safe. Also, remember to enjoy canning, and relax! it is fun!

You Will Need:

6 lbs Organic Pinto Beans
Water

Green Bean Delivery

To start this review, I need to mention my satisfaction with Green Bean Delivery for the following reasons: product, shipping, and packaging. First it did not take long to get the product to my apartment. Once we opened the box we found fruits and vegetables that were fresh and organic. There was a fruit, called a dapple in the box that I had never eaten before, but we tried it, after much googling on what it was and found something new we absolutely loved. This box had kale in it and I had never eaten kale either, needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed every thing in the box. The shipping was great, between the time that I ordered my first box and received it was not very long. This is a good thing considering the box had organic foods in it, meaning from the time the fruit and vegetables were picked, packaged, and sent was a short timeframe. Lastly, the packaging was perfect for the amount of food we received. When we opened the packaging, we found a cold pack inside that, of course kept the product cold. The container itself was light weight even when completely full. Needless to say, this box impressed me. Use my promo code "ORGMOM" this code will give you 15% off your FIRST 3 ORDERS!!! CODE IS GOOD UNTIL OCT 2016!! USE NOW!

This is everything that came in the box. We will have a video unboxing here soon!!

First time having fresh kale, we have had it frozen before, but never fresh!! OMG it was amazing in the soup I made (RECIPE COMING SOON!!!)
