Ham, Green Bean, and Potato Soup!

I was recently introduced to ham, green bean, and potato soup by my mother in law and oh my goodness was I ever won over! It must be the taste of the ham I used, because it just made the 'broth' absolutely delicious. This is something Kristopher and Kailee ask me to make almost weekly, but I do not because I like to limit how much ham, bacon and basically pork that we all eat; but as a treat on a cold day or just a fast throw together this is amazing!

You Will Need:

Organic Green Beans
Organic Ham (I used Turkey Ham, YES! PLEASE!)
Organic Potatoes
Organic Pork Hawk

Add your ham hawk or ham butt to your pot, fill with water, salt it, and let it cook for 2 to 3 hours (the longer the better, but def watch the water level!)

After 2 hours, peel your potatoes, cut in chunks and place in COLD water until you need them (I did not use these for another hour because I did not want to cook the potatoes and then can them or they would become mushy! EWWY!)

Nicely cut...

Dice your turkey ham or regular ham, and place in the pot, also add green beans and let them cook for an hour more.

So much YUMMY soup!

After the hour, add in the potatoes and continue to cook for another 30 minutes or so; until they are fork tender (all depends on how big you cut your potatoes)

This soup has quickly become one of our favorites for sure. We will be making this EVERY winter or whenever someone is feeling 'icky'.
